About Mr Shahid Khan

Mr Shahid Khan is a Consultant Urologist based in Surrey — FRCS (Urol), FEBU — practising at East Surrey Hospital (NHS) and privately at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital, Horley, and Spire St Anthony's Hospital, Sutton.

He is the Clinical Lead for Urological Cancers and Renal Stones at Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SASH) and a recognised expert in urinary stone disease. He established the lithotripsy service at Crawley Hospital, enabling patients across the region to access extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL) locally. His endoscopic stone expertise encompasses mini and ultra-mini percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), flexible ureterorenoscopy with laser stone fragmentation, and a comprehensive metabolic stone evaluation programme to prevent recurrence. 

Mr Khan developed the Template Prostate Biopsy Service at SASH in 2012 — now performing over 300 procedures annually, including precision-point transperineal and MRI fusion targeted biopsies. His prostate cancer expertise extends to PSA monitoring, active surveillance protocols, and the management of localised and locally advanced disease. 

For kidney and ureteric tumours, Mr Khan employs laparoscopic and robotic techniques, leading the CMR robotic renal surgery programme at East Surrey Hospital. He also offers specialist management of complex and malignant ureteric strictures using metallic ureteric stents — a durable endourological solution where repeated plastic stent changes are not appropriate. 

He trained at King Edward Medical University (Lahore), with further specialist urology training at the stone units of Guy's Hospital (London), St George's Hospital (Tooting), and the Western General Hospital (Edinburgh), completing his specialist training within the London/Kent Sussex & Surrey Deanery.
